Then the year 158 AH began
وَفِيهَا: سَقَطَ الْمَنْصُورُ عَنْ دَابَّتِهِ بِجَرْجَرَايَا فَانْشَجَّ مَا بَيْنَ حَاجِبَيْهِ. وَكَانَ قَدْ خَرَجَ مُشَيِّعًا وَلَدَهُ الْمَهْدِيَّ لَمَّا مَضَى إِلَى الرَّقَّةِ. وَفِيهَا: عَادَ الْمَهْدِيُّ مِنَ الرَّقَّةِ إِلَى بَغْدَادَ فَدَخَلَهَا فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ.
Translation
✧ In this year: al-Manṣūr fell from his mount at Jarjarāyā, and his forehead was split open. He had gone out to bid farewell to his son al-Mahdī when the latter departed to al-Raqqah. In this year: al-Mahdī returned from al-Raqqah to Baghdād, entering it in the month of Ramaḍān.
