Then the year 146 AH began
وَفِيهَا غَزَا مَالِكُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْخَثْعَمِيُّ، الَّذِي يُقَالُ لَهُ مَالِكُ الصَّوَائِفِ، وَهُوَ مِنْ أَهْلِ فِلَسْطِينَ، بِلَادَ الرُّومِ فَغَنِمَ غَنَائِمَ كَثِيرَةً ثُمَّ قَفَلَ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ مِنْ دَرْبِ الْحَدَثِ عَلَى خَمْسَةَ عَشَرَ مِيلًا بِمَوْضِعٍ يُدْعَى الرَّهْوَةَ نَزَلَ بِهَا ثَلَاثًا وَبَاعَ الْغَنَائِمَ وَقَسَّمَ سِهَامَ الْغَنِيمَةِ، فَسُمِّيَتْ تِلْكَ الرَّهْوَةُ رَهْوَةَ مَالِكٍ.
Translation
✧ In this year Mālik b. ʿAbdallāh al-Khathʿamī, who is called Mālik al-Ṣawāʾif, and who is from the people of Filasṭīn, raided the lands of the Rūm, and he gained much booty, then he returned. When he was from Darb al-Ḥadath, at fifteen miles, at a place called al-Rahwa, he camped there for three days, sold the booty, and divided the shares of the spoils. Thus that Rahwa was called Rahwat Mālik.
