Then the Year 138 AH Began
وَفِيهَا: غَزَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ الصَّائِفَةَ مَعَ صَالِحِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ، فَوَصَلَهُ صَالِحٌ بِأَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفَ دِينَارٍ، وَخَرَجَ مَعَهُمْ عِيسَى بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، فَوَصَلَهُ أَيْضًا بِأَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفَ دِينَارٍ، وَبَنَى صَالِحٌ مَا كَانَ صَاحِبُ الرُّومِ هَدَمَهُ مِنْ مَلْطِيَّةَ. وَقَدْ قِيلَ: إِنَّ خُرُوجَ صَالِحٍ وَالْعَبَّاسِ إِلَى مَلْطِيَّةَ لِلْغَزْوِ كَانَ فِي سَنَةِ تِسْعٍ وَثَلَاثِينَ وَمِائَةٍ.
Translation
✧ In this year: al-ʿAbbās b. Muḥammad b. ʿAlī b. ʿAbd Allāh b. al-ʿAbbās raided the summer expedition (al-ṣāʾifah) together with Ṣāliḥ b. ʿAlī, and Ṣāliḥ gifted him forty thousand dīnārs. ʿĪsā b. ʿAlī also went out with them, and he likewise gifted him forty thousand dīnārs. Ṣāliḥ rebuilt what the ruler of Byzantium had demolished of Maṭliyyah (Melitene). It has been said: the departure of Ṣāliḥ and al-ʿAbbās to Maṭliyyah for the raid took place in the year one hundred and thirty-nine.
