Translation
✧ Mention of the expedition against the island of Sicily In this year, ʿAbd Allāh b. Ḥabīb raided the island of Sicily. He gained booty and took captives there, and achieved there what no one before him had achieved, after having raided Tilimsān. The governors of Ifrīqiyyah were occupied with the conflict with the Berbers, so the Sicilians felt secure, and the Byzantines developed it from all directions. They built fortresses and strongholds in it, and every year they began sending out ships that circumnavigated the island and defended it. Sometimes they raided Muslim merchants and captured them.
