ثُمَّ دَخَلَتْ سَنَةُ سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ وَمِائَةٍ فِيهَا غَزَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ الصَّائِفَةَ الْيُسْرَى وَسُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ الصَّائِفَةَ الْيُمْنَى . وَفِيهَا بَعَثَ مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ - وَهُوَ عَلَى إِرْمِينِيَّةَ - بَعْثَيْنِ، فَفَتَحَ حُصُونًا مِنْ بِلَادِ اللَّانِ وَنَزَلَ كَثِيرٌ مِنْهُمْ عَلَى الْإِيمَانِ. وَحَجَّ بِالنَّاسِ هَذِهِ السَّنَةَ خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ. وَكَانَ الْعَامِلُ عَلَى مَكَّةَ وَالْمَدِينَةِ وَالطَّائِفِ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ هِشَامِ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْمَخْزُومِيَّ، وَعَلَى إِرْمِينِيَّةَ وَأَذْرَبِيجَانَ مَرْوَانَ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ.
Translation
✧ Then the year one hundred and seventeen entered. In it Muʿāwiyah b. Hishām raided the left summer expedition and Sulaymān b. Hishām the right summer expedition. In it Marwān b. Muḥammad—while he was over Armenia—dispatched two expeditions, and he conquered fortresses from the lands of the Lān, and many of them came down upon the faith. And Khālid b. ʿAbd al-Malik led the people in the pilgrimage this year. And the governor over Makkah, Madinah, and al-Ṭāʾif was Muḥammad b. Hishām b. Ismāʿīl al-Makhzūmī, and over Armenia and Adharbayjān was Marwān b. Muḥammad.
