ذِكْرُ الْخَبَرِ عَنْ غَزْوَةِ الْغُورِ قِيلَ: وَفِي سنة سبع ومائة غَزَا أَسَدٌ الْغُورَ، وَهِيَ جِبَالُ هَرَاةَ، فَعَمَدَ أَهْلُهَا إِلَى أَثْقَالِهِمْ فَصَيَّرُوهَا فِي كَهْفٍ لَيْسَ إِلَيْهِ طَرِيقٌ، فَأَمَرَ أَسَدٌ بِاتِّخَاذِ تَوَابِيتَ، وَوَضَعَ فِيهَا الرِّجَالَ، وَدَلَّاهَا بِسَلَاسِلَ فَلَمَّا جَمَعُوا مَا هُنَالِكَ قَعَدَ الرِّجَالُ فِي التَّوَابِيتِ وَرَفَعُوهُمْ، فَسَلِمُوا وَغَنِمُوا. وَهَذَا رَأْيٌ سَدِيدٌ.
Translation
✧ Mention of the report about the raid on al-Ghūr It was said: In the year one hundred and seven, Asad raided al-Ghūr, which are the mountains of Herat. Its people took their baggage and placed it in a cave to which there was no path. Asad ordered the making of coffers, placed men in them, and lowered them with chains. When they had gathered what was there, the men sat in the coffers and raised them up, so they were safe and took booty. This was a sound judgment.
