Chapter mentioning a group of the prophets of the Israelites after Mūsā (peace be upon him)
مُلَخَّصُ قِصَّةِ حِزْقِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ هُوَ حِزْقِيلُ بْنُ بُوزِي بَعَثَهُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى بَعْدَ يُوشَعَ بْنِ نُونٍ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ وَذَلِكَ أَنَّهُ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهِ أَقَامَ عَلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ صَالِحٌ هُوَ كَالِبُ بْنُ يُوفَنَّا فَظَلَّ فِيهِمْ يَحْكُمُ بَيْنَهُمْ بِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ حَتَّى مَاتَ فَبَغَى بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ وَفَسَدُوا فَأَرْسَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى حِزْقِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ، وَكَانَتْ أُمُّهُ عَجُوزًا قَدْ وَلَدَتْهُ عَلَى كِبَرٍ. وَهُوَ الَّذِي أَحْيَا اللَّهُ لَهُ قَوْمُهُ بَعْدَمَا هَرَبُوا مِنَ الطَّاعُونِ فَأَمَاتَهُمُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى ثُمَّ بَعَثَهُمْ لَهُ. فَبَقِيَ فِيهِمْ حِزْقِيلُ يُقِيمُ لَهُمُ الدِّينَ حَتَّى قُتِلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ، فَنَسِيَ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ مَا عُهِدَ إِلَيْهِ وَبَدَّلُوا وَعَبَدُوا الْأَصْنَامَ.
Translation
✧ Summary of the story of Ḥizqīl ﷺ He is Ḥizqīl b. Būzī. Allah Almighty sent him after Yūshaʿ b. Nūn ﷺ. That is because after his death a righteous man arose among them, namely Kālib b. Yūfannā. He remained among them judging between them according to the Book of Allah until he died. Then the Children of Israel transgressed after him and became corrupt. So Allah Almighty sent Ḥizqīl ﷺ. His mother was an old woman who bore him in her old age. He is the one for whom Allah revived his people after they fled from the plague. Allah Almighty caused them to die, then He resurrected them for him. Ḥizqīl remained among them upholding the religion until he ﷺ was killed. Then the Children of Israel forgot what had been entrusted to them, altered it, and worshipped idols.
