وِلَادَةِ أَبِي الْعَبَّاسِ السَّفَّاحِ وَقِيلَ: وَفِيهَا وُلِدَ أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ فِي رَبِيعٍ الْآخِرِ، وَهُوَ السَّفَّاحُ، وَوَصَلَ إِلَى أَبِيهِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّادِقُ مِنْ خُرَاسَانَ فِي عِدَّةٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ، فَأَخْرَجَ إِلَيْهِمْ أَبَا الْعَبَّاسِ فِي خِرْقَةٍ، وَلَهُ خَمْسَةَ عَشَرَ يَوْمًا، وَقَالَ لَهُمْ: هَذَا صَاحِبُكُمُ الَّذِي يَتِمُّ الْأَمْرُ عَلَى يَدِهِ فَقَبَّلُوا أَطْرَافَهُ، وَقَالَ لَهُمْ: وَاللَّهِ لَيُتِمَّنَّ اللَّهُ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ حَتَّى تُدْرِكُوا ثَأْرَكُمْ مِنْ عَدُوِّكُمْ. وهو أَوَّلُ خُلَفَاءِ بَنِي الْعَبَّاسِ وَقَدْ بَايَعَ أَبَاهُ فِي الْبَاطِنِ جَمَاعَةٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِرَاقِ.
Translation
✧ The birth of Abū al-ʿAbbās al-Saffāḥ It was said: In this year was born Abū al-ʿAbbās ʿAbd Allāh b. Muḥammad b. ʿAlī b. Muḥammad b. ʿAlī in Rabīʿ al-Ākhir, and he is al-Saffāḥ. Abū Muḥammad al-Ṣādiq, Muḥammad b. ʿAlī, his father, received from Khurāsān a number of his companions, and he brought out to them Abū al-ʿAbbās in a cloth when he was fifteen days old, and said to them: "This is your companion by whose hand the affair will be completed." They kissed his extremities, and he said to them: "By Allah, Allah will surely complete this affair until you attain your vengeance against your enemy." He is the first of the caliphs of the Banū al-ʿAbbās, and a group of the people of al-ʿIrāq had already pledged allegiance to his father in secret.
