The Year Ninety-Three
وَفِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ: حَجَّ بِالنَّاسِ عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ، وَكَانَتِ الْعُمَّالُ عَلَى الْأَمْصَارِ عُمَّالَهَا فِي السَّنَةِ الَّتِي قَبْلَهَا إِلَّا الْمَدِينَةَ فَإِنَّ عُمَرَ وَلِيَهَا إِلَى شَعْبَانَ، وَعُثْمَانُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ وَلِيَهَا مِنْ شَعْبَانَ، وَيُقَالُ: قَدِمَهَا فِي سَنَةِ أَرْبَعٍ وَتِسْعِينَ.
Translation
✧ In this year: the people performed the pilgrimage under ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. al-Walīd b. ʿAbd al-Malik. The governors over the garrison cities were those of the preceding year, except Madinah: ʿUmar governed it until Shaʿbān, then ʿUthmān b. Ḥayyān governed it from Shaʿbān; and it is said: he arrived in it in the year ninety-four.
