The Year Seventy of the Hijrah
وفي سَنَةُ سَبْعِينَ اجْتَمَعَتِ الرُّومُ وَاسْتَجَاشُوا عَلَى مَنْ بِالشَّامِ ، فَصَالَحَ عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ مَلِكَهُمْ عَلَى أَنْ يُؤَدِّيَ إِلَيْهِ كُلَّ جُمُعَةٍ أَلْفَ دِينَارٍ خَوْفًا مِنْهُ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِينَ.
Translation
✧ In the year seventy The Byzantines gathered and called for reinforcements against those in Syria, so ʿAbd al-Malik made peace with their king on the condition that he would pay him every Friday one thousand dinars, out of fear for the Muslims.
