The caliphate of Muʿāwiyah b. Abī Sufyān
وَفِي سنة ستين حَجَّ بِالنَّاسِ عَمْرُو بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، وَكَانَ عَامِلَ يَزِيدَ عَلَى مَكَّةَ وَالْمَدِينَةِ لَمَّا نَزَعَ يَزِيدُ الْوَلِيدَ بْنَ عُتْبَةَ عَنِ الْمَدِينَةِ، وَكَانَ ذَلِكَ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ. فَحَجَّ عَمْرٌو بِالنَّاسِ حِينَئِذٍ، وَكَانَ عَلَى الْكُوفَةِ وَالْبَصْرَةِ وَأَعْمَالِهَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، وَعَلَى خُرَاسَانَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، وَعَلَى قَضَاءِ الْكُوفَةِ شُرَيْحٌ، وَعَلَى قَضَاءِ الْبَصْرَةِ هِشَامُ بْنُ هُبَيْرَةَ.
Translation
✧ In the year sixty, ʿAmr b. Saʿīd led the people in the Hajj. He was Yazīd's governor over Makkah and Madinah when Yazīd dismissed al-Walīd b. ʿUtbah from Madinah, and that was in the month of Ramaḍān. So ʿAmr led the people in the Hajj then. Over al-Kūfah, al-Baṣrah, and their districts was ʿUbayd Allāh b. Ziyād; over Khurāsān was ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Ziyād; over the judiciary of al-Kūfah was Shurayḥ; and over the judiciary of al-Baṣrah was Hishām b. Hubayrah.
