Translation

✧ The dismissal of ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿAmr from Egypt and the appointment of Ibn Ḥudayj And he was an ʿUthmānī, so ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Abī Bakr passed by him and said to him: O Muʿāwiyah, you have received your reward from Muʿāwiyah. You killed my brother Muḥammad b. Abī Bakr so that you might govern Egypt, and now you have been appointed over it. He replied: I did not kill Muḥammad except for what he did to ʿUthmān. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān said: If you were only seeking blood for ʿUthmān, you would not have participated with Muʿāwiyah in what he did when ʿAmr acted against al-Ashʿarī as he did, and you were the first of the people to leap up and pledge allegiance to him.
