The story of Moses the one who spoke with Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)

Translation

✧ And among those who believed in Moses was the hairdresser of Pharaoh’s daughter. On the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās: When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was taken on the Night Journey, a pleasant fragrance passed by him. He said: “O Jibrīl, what is this fragrance?” He said: “The hairdresser of Pharaoh’s daughter. She was combing her hair, and the comb fell from her hand. She said: ‘In the name of Allah.’ Pharaoh’s daughter said: ‘My father?’ She said: ‘Rather my Lord and the Lord of your father.’ She said: ‘Shall I inform my father of this?’ She said: ‘Yes.’ So she informed him, and he summoned her and said: ‘Who is your Lord?’ She said: ‘My Lord and your Lord is Allah, who is in heaven.’ So Pharaoh ordered a cow of brass to be heated, and he summoned her and her child. She said: ‘I have a need from you.’ He said: ‘What is it?’ She said: ‘Gather my bones and the bones of my child and crush them all together.’ He said: ‘That is a right you have over us.’ He said: Then he threw her children one by one, until when it came to the last of her children, who was a suckling infant, he said: ‘Be patient, O mother, for you are upon the truth.’ He said: Then she was thrown with her child. And among those who believed in Moses was Āsiyah. Abū Hurayrah said: Pharaoh stretched cords for his wife in her hands and her feet, and when they dispersed from her, the angels shaded her. She said: “My Lord, build for me a house with You in Paradise” [66:11]. So Allah unveiled for her her house in Paradise until she saw it before her death. And on the authority of ʿIkrimah, from Ibn ʿAbbās, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “The best women of the people of Paradise are: Khadījah bt. Khuwaylid, Fāṭimah bt. Muḥammad, Maryam bt. ʿImrān, and Āsiyah bt. Muzāḥim, the wife of Pharaoh.” It was said that Āsiyah, the wife of Pharaoh, was from the Children of Israel, and it was said that she was from other than them. She was a believer who concealed her faith. When the hairdresser was killed, Āsiyah saw the angels ascending with her soul; Allah unveiled her sight, and she used to look at her while she was being tormented. When she saw the angels, her faith strengthened, and she increased in certainty and belief in Moses. While she was in that state, Pharaoh entered upon her and told her the news of the hairdresser. Āsiyah said to him: “Woe to you! How bold are you against Allah?” He said to her: “Perhaps the madness that seized the hairdresser has seized you?” She said: “I have no madness, but I believe in Allah, exalted be He, my Lord and your Lord and the Lord of the worlds.” So Pharaoh summoned her mother and said to her: “Your daughter has been afflicted by what afflicted the hairdresser. I swear by an oath: she will taste death or she will disbelieve in the God of Moses.” Her mother withdrew with her and sought to make her agree with Pharaoh, but she refused and said: “That I should disbelieve in Allah? No, by Allah!” So Pharaoh commanded, and she was stretched between four stakes before him and tormented until she died. When she faced death, she said: “My Lord, build for me a house with You in Paradise and save me from Pharaoh and his deeds and save me from the wrongdoing people.” So Allah unveiled her sight, and she saw the angels and what had been prepared for her of honor, and she laughed. Pharaoh said: “Look at the madness that is in her! She laughs while she is in torment!” Then she died.
