The caliphate of ʿAlī b. Abī Ṭālib
ذِكْرُ مَنْ تُوُفِّيَ فِيهَا مِنَ الْأَعْيَانِ سَعْدُ الْقَرَظِ سَعْدُ الْقَرَظِ مُؤَذِّنُ مَسْجِدِ قُبَاءٍ فِي زَمَانِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ، ﷺ، فَلَمَّا وَلِيَ عُمَرُ الْخِلَافَةَ وَلَّاهُ أَذَانَ الْمَسْجِدِ النَّبَوِيِّ، وَكَانَ أَصْلُهُ مَوْلًى لِعَمَّارِ بْنِ يَاسِرٍ، وَهُوَ الَّذِي كَانَ يَحْمِلُ الْعَنَزَةَ بَيْنَ يَدِيْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ وَعُثْمَانَ وَعَلِيٍّ إِلَى الْمُصَلَّى يَوْمَ الْعِيدِ، وَبَقِيَ الْأَذَانُ فِي ذُرِّيَّتِهِ مُدَّةً طَوِيلَةً. أَبُو مَسْعُودٍ الْبَدْرِيُّ عُقْبَةُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ، أَبُو مَسْعُودٍ الْبَدْرِيُّ ، سَكَنَ مَاءَ بَدْرٍ فَنُسِبَ إِلَيْهِ، وَلَمْ يَشْهَدِ الْوَقْعَةَ بِبَدْرٍ عَلَى الصَّحِيحِ، وَقَدْ شَهِدَ الْعَقَبَةَ، وَهُوَ مِنْ سَادَاتِ الصَّحَابَةِ، وَكَانَ يَنُوبُ لِعَلِيٍّ بِالْكُوفَةِ إِذَا خَرَجَ مِنْهَا إِلَى الْقِتَالِ.
Translation
✧ Mention of the notables who died in it Saʿd al-Qaraẓ Saʿd al-Qaraẓ was the muezzin of the mosque of Qubāʾ in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When ʿUmar assumed the caliphate, he appointed him to the call to prayer of the Prophet's mosque. He was originally a client of ʿAmmār b. Yāsir. He was the one who carried the short spear before Abū Bakr, ʿUmar, ʿUthmān, and ʿAlī to the prayer place on the day of the festival. The call to prayer remained with his descendants for a long time. Abū Masʿūd al-Badrī ʿUqbah b. ʿAmr b. Thaʿlabah, Abū Masʿūd al-Badrī. He dwelt at the water of Badr and was thus attributed to it, but he did not witness the battle of Badr according to the sound view. He did witness the ʿAqabah, and he was among the leading Companions. He used to act as ʿAlī's deputy in Kufa whenever he left it for battle.
