The caliphate of ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb
Translation
✧ The account of the minor Ullays When Dhū al-Ḥājib returned, Jābān and Mardānshāh did not sense the news that had come to him, so they went out until they took to the road. Al-Muthannā learned of their action, so he appointed ʿĀṣim b. ʿAmr over the people as his deputy, and he went out with a detachment of cavalry seeking the two of them. They thought that he was fleeing, so they intercepted him, and he took them both captive. The people of Ullays went out against their companions and brought them to him as captives, and he concluded for them a covenant of protection there. He killed the two of them and killed the captives. Abū Miḥjan fled from Ullays and did not return with al-Muthannā b. Ḥārithah.
