Chapter mentioning the offspring of Abraham (peace and blessings be upon him)
Translation
✧ Ibn Jarīr and other scholars of history mentioned that when Job ﷺ died, his age was ninety-three years. It was also said that he lived more than that. Layth narrated from Mujāhid something to the effect that on the Day of Resurrection, Allah will make a case through Solomon ﷺ against the wealthy, through Joseph ﷺ against slaves, and through Job ﷺ against the people of affliction. Ibn ʿAsākir narrated it with this meaning, and that he bequeathed to his son Ḥawmal, and after him his son Bishr b. Ayyūb took charge of the matter. He is the one whom many people claim to be Dhū al-Kifl, but Allah knows best. This son of his died, and he was a prophet as they claim, and his age in years was seventy-five. He bequeathed to his son ʿAbdān, and that after him Allah sent Shuʿayb b. Ḍayʿūn b. ʿUnuqā b. Thābit b. Madyan b. Ibrāhīm ﷺ.
