The messengers of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his correspondence to the kings and the like
إِرْسَالِهِ ﷺ حُرَيْثَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ الْخَيْلِ ؓ إِلَى يُحَنَّةَ بْنِ رُؤْبَةَ الْأَيْلِيِّ ذَكَرَهُ ابْنُ سَعْدٍ فِي رُسُلِهِ- إِلَى يُحَنَّةَ بْنِ رُؤْبَةَ الْأَيْلِيِّ - وَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبْدِ الْبَرِّ: اسْمُهُ حُرَيْثُ زَيْدِ بْنِ الْخَيْلِ - وَسَمَّى أَبَاهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ حِينَ أَسْلَمَ زَيْدَ الْخَيْرِ- بْنَ مُهَلْهَلِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ مَنْهَبٍ الطَّائِيَّ، أَسْلَمَ هُوَ وَأَبَوْهُ وَأَخُوهُ مِكْنَفٍ، وَشَهِدَ قِتَالَ الرِّدَّةِ مَعَ خَالِدِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ. قَالَ: وَذَكَرَهُ الدَّارَقُطْنِيُّ.
Translation
✧ His ﷺ sending Ḥurayth b. Zayd al-Khayl ؓ to Yuḥannah b. Ruʾbah al-Aylī Ibn Saʿd mentioned him among his messengers—to Yuḥannah b. Ruʾbah al-Aylī—and Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr said: His name is Ḥurayth Zayd b. al-Khayl—and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ named his father, when he embraced Islam, Zayd al-Khayr—b. Muhalhil b. Zayd b. Manhab al-Ṭāʾī. He embraced Islam, along with his father and his brother Miknaf, and he witnessed the fighting of the Riddah with Khālid b. al-Walīd. He said: And al-Dāraquṭnī mentioned him.
