Mention of Year Nine and Its Designation as the Year of Delegations
وَفِيهَا فِي شَعْبَانَ تُوُفِّيَتْ أُمُّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَهِيَ زَوْجُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ، وَغَسَّلَتْهَا أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ عُمَيْسٍ، وَصَفِيَّةُ بِنْتُ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ، وَقِيلَ: غَسَّلَتْهَا نِسْوَةٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ، مِنْهُنَّ أُمُّ عَطِيَّةَ، وَصَلَّى عَلَيْهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَنَزَلَ فِي حُفْرَتِهَا أَبُو طَلْحَةَ.
Translation
✧ In this year, in Shaʿbān, Umm Kulthūm bt. the Prophet ﷺ died, and she was the wife of ʿUthmān b. ʿAffān. Asmāʾ bt. ʿUmays and Ṣafiyya bt. ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib washed her, and it was said: women from the Anṣār washed her, among them Umm ʿAṭiyya. The Messenger of God ﷺ prayed over her, and Abū Ṭalḥa descended into her grave.
