The Pilgrimage of Abū Bakr with the People
[ تَأْمِيرُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَلَى الْحَجِّ ] قَالَ ابْنُ إسْحَاقَ: ثُمَّ أَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بَقِيَّةَ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ وَشَوَّالًا وَذَا الْقَعَدَةِ، ثُمَّ بَعَثَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ أَمِيرًا عَلَى الْحَجِّ مِنْ سَنَةِ تِسْعٍ، لِيُقِيمَ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ حَجَّهُمْ، وَالنَّاسُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الشِّرْكِ عَلَى مَنَازِلِهِمْ مِنْ حَجِّهِمْ. فَخَرَجَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ؓ وَمَنْ مَعَهُ مِنْ الْمُسْلِمِينَ. وَحَجَّ أَبُو بَكْرٍ بِالنَّاسِ وَمَعَهُ عِشْرُونَ بَدَنَةً لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَلِنَفْسِهِ خَمْسُ بَدَنَاتٍ، وَكَانَ فِي ثَلَاثِمِائَةِ رَجُلٍ.
Translation
✧ [ The appointment of Abū Bakr to lead the pilgrimage ] Ibn Isḥāq said: Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained for the rest of Ramaḍān, Shawwāl, and Dhū al-Qaʿdah. Then he sent Abū Bakr as commander over the pilgrimage in the year nine, to conduct the Muslims' pilgrimage for them, while the people of polytheism were at their stations of their pilgrimage. So Abū Bakr ؓ and those with him of the Muslims set out. Abū Bakr performed the pilgrimage with the people, and with him were twenty camels for sacrifice belonging to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and for himself five camels for sacrifice, and he was among three hundred men.
