The Expedition of Ḥunayn (Hawāzin)
Translation
✧ [The poetry of Salamah about his flight] Ibn Isḥāq said: Salamah b. Durayd said, while driving his wife along until he outdistanced them: You made me forget that you were not otherwise afflicted, and you knew on the morning of Naʿf al-Aẓrub that I protected you while riding was beloved, and I walked behind you like the gait of the ankab, when every polished, long-haired man fled from his mother and his friend, not turning back.
