The Expedition of Muʾtah
Translation
✧ A section. It has occurred in al-Tirmidhī and elsewhere that the Messenger of God ﷺ entered Makkah on the day of the conquest, with ʿAbd Allāh b. Rawāḥah before him reciting: Make way, O sons of the disbelievers, from his path—the verses. This is an error, for Ibn Rawāḥah was killed in this expedition, which was four months before the conquest. Rather, what was recited before him was the poetry of Ibn Rawāḥah. This is something about which there is no disagreement among the people of transmission.
