The Expedition of Muʾtah
Translation
✧ Its cause was that the Messenger of God ﷺ sent al-Ḥārith b. ʿUmayr al-Azdī—one of the Banū Lihb—with his letter to Syria, to the king of the Romans or to Buṣrā. Shuraḥbīl b. ʿAmr al-Ghassānī intercepted him, bound him with a rope, then brought him forward and struck his neck. No messenger of the Messenger of God ﷺ other than him was killed. That distressed him greatly when the news reached him, so he dispatched the expeditions.
