The Expedition of Banu al-Mustaliq (al-Muraysi')
[ مَا نَزَلَ فِي ابْنِ أُبَيٍّ مِنْ الْقُرْآنِ ] وَنَزَلَتْ السُّورَةُ الَّتِي ذَكَرَ اللَّهُ فِيهَا الْمُنَافِقِينَ فِي ابْنِ أُبَيٍّ وَمَنْ كَانَ عَلَى مِثْلِ أَمْرِهِ، فَلَمَّا نَزَلَتْ أَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِأُذُنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: هَذَا الَّذِي أَوْفَى اللَّهُ بِأُذُنِهِ. وَبَلَغَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أُبَيٍّ الَّذِي كَانَ مِنْ أَمْرِ أَبِيهِ.
Translation
✧ [What was revealed of the Quran concerning Ibn Ubayy] The surah in which God mentioned the hypocrites was revealed concerning Ibn Ubayy and those who were in the same situation as him. When it was revealed, the Messenger of God ﷺ took hold of the ear of Zayd b. Arqam, then said: "This is the one whose ear God fulfilled." And the matter of his father reached ʿAbd Allah b. ʿAbd Allah b. Ubayy.
