The story of Abraham the Friend (peace and blessings be upon him)

Translation

✧ The Description of Ibrāhīm ﷺ Imām Aḥmad said: with his chain of narration from Jābir, from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he said: “The prophets were presented to me; and there was Mūsā, a lean man, as if he were one of the men of Shanūʾah, and I saw ʿĪsā son of Maryam, and the closest of those I have seen in resemblance to him is ʿUrwah b. Masʿūd, and I saw Ibrāhīm, and the closest of those I have seen in resemblance to him is your companion — meaning himself ﷺ — and I saw Jibrīl ﷺ, and the closest of those I have seen in resemblance to him is Diḥyah.” Imām Aḥmad is alone in transmitting it from this route and with this wording. And Aḥmad said: with his chain of narration from Ibn ʿAbbās who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “I saw ʿĪsā son of Maryam, and Mūsā, and Ibrāhīm. As for ʿĪsā, he was reddish, with curly hair, broad-chested. As for Mūsā, he was dark-skinned and large-bodied.” They said to him: “And Ibrāhīm?” He said: “Look at your companion,” meaning himself. And al-Bukhārī said: with his chain of narration from Mujāhid that he heard Ibn ʿAbbās — and they mentioned to him the Dajjāl, between whose eyes is written: kāfir, or k f r — and he said: “I did not hear it. But he ﷺ said: ‘As for Ibrāhīm, look at your companion; and as for Mūsā, he was curly-haired, dark-skinned, on a red camel, bridled with a palm-fiber rope, as if I were looking at him descending into the valley.’”
