The Expedition of Dhat al-Riqa'

Translation

✧ [The reason for naming it Dhat al-Riqa'] Ibn Hisham said: It was only called the expedition of Dhat al-Riqa' because on it they patched their banners. It is also said: Dhat al-Riqa' is a tree at that place, which is called Dhat al-Riqa'. Al-Waqidi said: At a mountain in which there are red, black, and white patches. In the hadith of Abu Musa: It was only called that because of the rags they used to tie on their feet due to the intense heat.
