The Expedition of Uḥud
[ رَجَزُ أَبِي زَعْنَةَ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ ] قَالَ ابْنُ إسْحَاقَ: وَقَالَ أَبُو زَعْنَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، أَخُو بَنِي جُشَمِ بْنِ الْخَزْرَجِ، يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ: أَنَا أَبُو زَعْنَةَ يَعْدُو بِي الهُزَمْ لَمْ تُمْنَعْ الْمَخْزَاةُ إلَّا بِالْأَلَمْ يَحْمِي الذِّمَارَ خَزْرَجِيٌّ مِنْ جُشَمْ
Translation
✧ [The Rajaz of Abū Zaʿnah on the Day of Uḥud] Ibn Isḥāq said: Abū Zaʿnah b. ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿAmr b. ʿUtbah, brother of the Banū Jusham b. al-Khazraj, said on the Day of Uḥud: I am Abū Zaʿnah, the assault drives me on; disgrace is not prevented except by pain. A Khazrajī of Jusham defends the protected things.
