أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ الْعَدْلُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْإِمَامَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ يَقُولُ
سَأَلْتُ يُونُسَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى الصَّدَفِيَّ عَنْ سَبَبِ مَوْتِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ فَقَالَ كَانَ يُقْرَأُ عَلَيْهِ كِتَابُ الْأَهْوَالِ فَقُرِئَ عَلَيْهِ خَبَرٌ فَخَرَّ مَغْشِيًّا عَلَيْهِ فَحَمَلْنَاهُ وَأَدْخَلْنَاهُ الدَّارَ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ مَرِيضًا حَتَّى تُوُفِّيَ ؓ

✧ I asked Yunus b. ʿAbd al-Aʿlā al-Ṣadafī about the cause of the death of ʿAbd Allāh b. Wahb, and he said: The Book of Terrors was being read to him, and a report was read to him, so he fell down unconscious. We carried him and brought him into the house, and he remained ill until he died ؓ.
