أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُؤَمَّلِ ثَنَا الْحَسَنُ ثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَيْهَقِيُّ ثَنَا نُعَيْمُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ أَنْبَأَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

بَيْنَمَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ صَلَاةً إِذْ مَدَّ يَدَهُ ثُمَّ أَخَّرَهَا فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ رَأَيْنَاكَ صَنَعْتَ فِي هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةِ شَيْئًا لَمْ تَكُنْ تَصْنَعُهُ فِيمَا قَبْلَهُ قَالَ «أَجَلْ إِنَّهُ عُرِضَتْ عَلَيَّ الْجَنَّةَ فَرَأَيْتُ فِيهَا دَالَيَةً قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٌ فَأَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَتَنَاوَلَ مِنْهَا شَيْئًا فَأُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ أَنِ اسْتَأْخِرْ فَاسْتَأْخَرْتُ وَعُرِضَتْ عَلَيَّ النَّارُ فِيمَا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكُمْ حَتَّى رَأَيْتُ ظِلِّي وَظِلَّكُمْ فِيهَا فَأَوْمَأْتُ إِلَيْكُمْ أَنِ اسْتَأْخِرُوا فَأُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ أَنْ أَقْرِهِمْ فَإِنَّكَ أَسْلَمْتَ وَأَسْلَمُوا وَهَاجَرْتَ وَهَاجَرُوا وَجَاهَدْتَ وَجَاهَدُوا فَلَمْ أَرَ لَكَ فَضْلًا عَلَيْهِمْ إِلَّا بِالنُّبُوَّةِ فَأَوَّلْتُ ذَلِكَ مَا يَلْقَى أُمَّتِي بَعْدِي مِنَ الْفِتَنِ»

✧ While the Prophet ﷺ was praying one night, he extended his hand and then withdrew it. We said, 'O Messenger of Allah, we saw you do something in this prayer that you did not do before.' He said, 'Yes, Paradise was presented to me, and I saw in it a cluster of grapes whose bunches were near, and I wanted to take something from it, but it was revealed to me to hold back, so I held back. And Hell was presented to me between me and you, until I saw my shadow and your shadows in it, so I gestured to you to hold back, but it was revealed to me to let them remain, for you have submitted and they have submitted, you have migrated and they have migrated, you have struggled and they have struggled. I saw no merit for you over them except prophethood.' So I interpreted that as what my community will face after me of tribulations.

  • هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخْرِجَاهُ صحيح
