✧ I went out to Kufa at the time Tustar was conquered to bring mules from it. I entered the mosque and there was a group of men whom you would recognize, when you saw them, as men from the Hijaz. He said: I said, "Who is this?" The people stared at me and said, "Do you not know this man? This is Hudhayfah, the keeper of the secret of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." He said: Hudhayfah said, "The people used to ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the good, but I used to ask him about the evil." He said: I said, "O Messenger of Allah, do you think that after this good which Allah has given us, there will be evil as there was before it?" He said, "Yes." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, what is the protection from that?" He said, "The sword." I said, "Is there any remnant for the sword?" He said, "Yes." He said: I said, "Then what?" He said, "Then a truce on the basis of corruption." He said, "A congregation on the basis of division. If Allah ﷻ has a caliph on that day, he will strike your back and take your wealth, so listen and obey. Otherwise, die biting onto the stump of a tree." He said: I said, "Then what?" He said, "The Dajjal will emerge, and with him will be a river and a fire. Whoever falls into his fire will have his reward and his burden will be removed. Whoever falls into his river will have his burden made obligatory and his reward removed." I said, "Then what?" He said, "Then it is only the establishment of the Hour."
