✧ I heard 'Awf b. Malik al-Ashja'i say: I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the expedition of Tabuk while he was in a leather tent. He said to me: 'O 'Awf, count six things before the Hour: my death, then the conquest of Bayt al-Maqdis, then a mortality that will take you like the qu'as of sheep, then the abundance of wealth among you so that a man will be given a hundred dinars and remain discontented, then a tribulation that will not leave any house of the Arabs but it will enter it, then a truce between you and the Banu al-Asfar, but they will betray you and come to you under eighty banners, twelve thousand.' Al-Walid b. Muslim said: We discussed this hadith with a shaykh from the shuyukh of the people of al-Madinah regarding his saying 'then the conquest of Bayt al-Maqdis,' and the shaykh said: Sa'id al-Maqburi informed me from Abu Hurayrah that he used to narrate these six from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he would say instead of 'the conquest of Bayt al-Maqdis': 'the construction of Bayt al-Maqdis.'
