حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عِيسَى الْجَنْزِيُّ ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْقَبَّانِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ السَّدُوسِيُّ ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي مِجْلَزٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ عَبَّادٍ قَالَ

بَيْنَمَا أَنَا بِالْمَدِينَةِ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فِي الصَّفِّ الْمُقَدَّمِ قَائِمٌ أُصَلِّي فَجَبَذَنِي رَجُلٌ مِنْ خَلْفِي جَبْذَةً فَنَحَّانِي وَقَامَ مَقَامِي قَالَ فَوَاللَّهِ مَا عَقَلْتُ صَلَاتِي فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ فَإِذَا هُوَ أُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ فَقَالَ «يَا فَتَى لَا يَسُوءُكَ اللَّهُ إِنَّ هَذَا عَهْدُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِلَيْنَا أَنْ نَلِيَهُ ثُمَّ اسْتَقْبَلَ الْقِبْلَةَ» فَقَالَ هَلَكَ أَهْلُ الْعَقْدِ ثَلَاثًا وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «وَاللَّهِ مَا عَلَيْهِمْ آسَى وَلَكِنِّي آسَى عَلَى مَا أَضَلُّوا» قَالَ قُلْتُ مَنْ تَعْنِي بِهَذَا؟ قَالَ «الْأُمَرَاءَ»

✧ While I was in Madinah in the mosque in the front row standing praying, a man pulled me from behind with a tug, moved me aside, and stood in my place. He said: By Allah, I did not comprehend my prayer. When he finished, it was Ubayy b. Ka'b. He said: O young man, may Allah not grieve you. This is the covenant of the Prophet ﷺ to us: that we should be nearest to it. Then he faced the qiblah and said: The people of the knot have perished, three times, by the Lord of the Ka'bah. Then he said: By Allah, I do not grieve for them, but I grieve for what they have led astray. I said: Whom do you mean by this? He said: The rulers.
