machine translationThis is an authentic (ṣaḥīḥ) ḥadīth meeting the criterion of the two Shaykhs (al-Bukhārī and Muslim).
in المستدرك على الصحيحين, p. 760 - Ibn Khuzaymah
machine translationFor I do not know of any declaration of reliability (ʿadālah) or criticism (jarḥ) concerning al-Sāʾib, the freed slave of Umm Salamah, nor do I find that Ḥabīb b. Abī Thābit heard this report from Ibn ʿUmar, nor whether Qatādah heard his report from Mawriq, from Abū al-Aḥwaṣ, or not. Rather, I almost have no doubt that Qatādah did not hear from Abū al-Aḥwaṣ, because in some of the reports of Abū al-Aḥwaṣ he inserted Mawriq between himself and Abū al-Aḥwaṣ, and in this very report Hammām and Saʿīd b. Bashīr inserted Mawriq between them.
