✧ Sahl b. Hunayf went out with 'Amir b. Rabi'ah intending to bathe. They came to a pool, and Sahl went out intending privacy. Waki' said: meaning a screen. When he thought he had removed a woolen cloak he was wearing and placed it down, then he entered the water. He said: I looked at him and struck him with my eye. I heard a cracking sound from him in the water. I went to him and called him three times, but he did not answer me. So I came to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him. He came walking and waded into the water until I could almost see the whiteness of his shins. He struck his chest and said: 'O Allah, remove from him its heat, its cold, and its ailment.' Then he stood up, and the Prophet ﷺ said: 'When one of you sees in himself, his wealth, or his brother something he loves, let him invoke blessing, for the evil eye is real.'
