✧ A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, I am afflicted with hardship. He sent to his wives but found nothing with them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Is there any man who will host this man tonight, may Allah have mercy on him?" A man from the Ansar stood up and said: I will, O Messenger of Allah. He went to his family and said to his wife: This is the guest of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, we will not withhold anything from him. She said: By Allah, I have nothing but the children's food. He said: When the children want dinner, put them to sleep, then come and extinguish the lamp, and we will tighten our belts tonight. She did so. Then the man went early to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Allah has been amazed"—or "Allah has laughed"—ﷻ at so-and-so and so-and-so. And Allah, the Exalted, revealed: {And they give preference over themselves, even though they are in need} [Al-Hashr: 9].
