✧ Usayd b. Hudayr al-Ashhalī came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ after he had distributed some food, and mentioned to him a household of the Ansar from Banū Zafar who were in need. He said: The majority of that household were women. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: “You left us, O Usayd, until what was in our hands was gone. When you hear of something that has come to us, remind me of that household.” Later, food came to him from Khaybar: barley and dates. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ distributed it among the people, gave generously to the Ansar, and gave generously to that household. Usayd b. Hudayr said to him gratefully: “May Allah reward you, O Prophet of Allah, with the best reward for us,” or he said: “with good.” The Prophet ﷺ said: “And you, O assembly of Ansar, may Allah reward you with the finest reward,” and he said: “with good. For you, as I have known, are chaste and patient. You will see after me selfishness in authority and distribution, so be patient until you meet me at the Pond.”
