✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to 'Umar b. al-Khattab: 'O 'Umar, gather your people for me.' So he gathered them, then entered upon him and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I have gathered them. Should they enter upon you or should you go out to them?' He said: 'Rather, I will go out to them.' The Muhajirun and the Ansar heard of that and said: 'Revelation has come regarding Quraysh.' The observer and the listener attended to hear what would be said to them. He stood among them and said: 'Is there anyone among you other than you?' They said: 'Yes, among us are our allies, the sons of our brothers, and our freedmen.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Our allies are of us, and our freedmen are of us.' Then he said: 'Do you not hear? My allies among you are the God-fearing. If you are those, then that is so; otherwise, look, then look. Let not people come with deeds while you come with burdens, and He turns away from you.' Then he called out, raising his voice: 'Indeed Quraysh are people of trustworthiness; whoever seeks to cause them calamities, Allah will cast him down upon his nostrils.' He said it three times.
