✧ Umm Nubayh bint al-Hajjaj, the mother of Abdullah b. Amr, was a woman who used to send gifts to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and show him kindness. One day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to her as a visitor and said, "How are you, O Umm Abdullah?" She said, "Well, may my father and mother be your ransom, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "And how is Abdullah?" She said, "Well, may my father and mother be your ransom. Abdullah is a man who has withdrawn from the world." He said, "How so?" She said, "He has forbidden himself sleep, so he does not sleep, nor does he break his fast. He has forbidden himself meat, so he does not eat meat, and he does not fulfill the rights of his family." He said, "Where is he?" She said, "He went out a short while ago; he is likely to return soon, O Messenger of Allah." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When he comes to you, keep him for me." Abdullah did not delay in coming, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Indeed, your soul has a right over you, and your family has a right over you."
