✧ Quraysh did not disapprove of the Duha prayer; they only disapproved of the time. "When the time of Asr came, they dispersed to the mountain passes and prayed singly and in pairs." Tulayb b. Umayr and Hatib b. Abd Shams went out praying in the pass of Ajnad, some of them looking at others, when Ibn al-Usaydi and Ibn al-Qibtiyyah, who were two obscene men, attacked them and pelted them with stones for a while until they left and departed, fleeing. They went to Abu Jahl, Abu Lahab, and Uqbah b. Abi Mu'ayt and mentioned the news to them, so they set out against them at dawn. They used to go out in the darkness of dawn, perform ablution, and pray. While they were in a pass, Abu Jahl, Uqbah, Abu Lahab, and a number of their fools attacked them, seized them, and harmed them. The companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ then showed their Islam, spoke openly about it, called to them, and defended themselves. Tulayb b. Umayr deliberately went for Abu Jahl and struck him, wounding his head. They seized him and bound him, but Abu Lahab stood up for him until he untied him, because he was his nephew. It was said to Arwa bt. Abd al-Muttalib, "Do you not see your son Tulayb? He has followed Muhammad and has become a target for him." Arwa had already embraced Islam, so she said, "The best of Tulayb's days is a day when he defends his maternal cousin. He has brought the truth from Allah the Exalted." They said, "So you have followed Muhammad?" She said, "Yes." Some of them went out to Abu Lahab and informed him, so he came until he entered upon her and said, "I am amazed at you and at your following Muhammad, and you have abandoned the religion of Abd al-Muttalib." She said, "That has happened. So stand up for your nephew, support him, and protect him. If his affair prevails, then you have the choice: if you wish, you may enter with him, or you may remain upon your religion. And if it does not prevail, you will have excused yourself before your nephew." He said, "We have the strength to face all the Arabs. Then they will say that he has brought a newly invented religion." Then Abu Lahab departed. I did not find her Islam except in the book of Abu Abdullah al-Waqidi.
