✧ Umm al-Mu'minin Maymuna bt. al-Harith

أَخْبَرَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الشَّعْرَانِيُّ ثنا جَدِّي ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ الْحِزَامِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُلَيْحٍ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ

«خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مِنَ الْعَامِ الْقَابِلِ عَامَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ مُعْتَمِرًا فِي ذِي الْقَعْدَةَ سَنَةَ سَبْعٍ وَهُوَ الشَّهْرُ الَّذِي صَدَّهُ فِيهِ الْمُشْرِكُونَ عَنِ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغَ يَأْجَجَ بَعَثَ جَعْفَرَ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ إِلَى مَيْمُونَةَ بِنْتِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ حَزْنٍ الْعَامِرِيَّةِ فَخَطَبَهَا عَلَيْهِ فَجَعَلَتْ أَمْرَهَا إِلَى الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ وَكَانَتْ أُخْتُهَا أُمَّ الْفَضْلِ تَحْتَهُ فَزَوَّجَهَا الْعَبَّاسُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَأَقَامَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِسَرِفٍ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ بِحِينٍ حَتَّى قَدِمَتْ مَيْمُونَةُ فَبَنَى بِهَا بِسَرِفٍ وَقَدَّرَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى أَنْ يَكُونَ مَوْتُ مَيْمُونَةَ بِنْتِ الْحَارِثِ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ بِحِينٍ فَتُوُفِّيَتْ حَيْثُ بَنَى بِهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ»

✧ "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out the following year, the year of Hudaybiyyah, to perform Umrah in Dhu al-Qa'dah in the year seven, which is the month in which the polytheists had turned him away from the Sacred Mosque. When he reached Ya'jaj, he sent Ja'far b. Abi Talib ahead of him to Maymunah bt. al-Harith b. Hazn al-'Amiriyyah to propose to her on his behalf. She placed her affair in the hands of al-'Abbas b. 'Abd al-Muttalib, for her sister Umm al-Fadl was married to him. Al-'Abbas married her to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ stayed at Sarif for a while after that until Maymunah arrived, and he consummated the marriage with her at Sarif. Allah Almighty ordained that Maymunah bt. al-Harith's death should occur after that by a while, so she died where the Messenger of Allah ﷺ consummated the marriage with her."
