✧ The Messenger of Allah sent me to my people to call them to Allah, Blessed and Exalted, and to present to them the laws of Islam. I came to them after they had watered their camels, milked them, and drunk. When they saw me, they said, 'Welcome to al-Suddi b. 'Ajlan.' Then they said, 'We have heard that you have turned to this man.' I said, 'No, but I have believed in Allah and His Messenger. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me to you to present Islam and its laws to you.' While we were thus, they brought a large bowl of blood and placed it, and they gathered around it to eat it. They said, 'Come, O Suddi.' I said, 'Woe to you! I have come to you from one who forbids this to you, according to what Allah has revealed to him.' They said, 'And what is that?' I said, 'This verse was revealed to him: {Forbidden to you are the dead, blood, and the flesh of swine} [al-Ma'idah: 3] up to His saying {except that which you have properly slaughtered} [al-Ma'idah: 3].' I kept calling them to Islam, but they refused. I said to them, 'Woe to you! Bring me some water, for I am severely thirsty.' They said, 'No, but we will leave you to die of thirst.' He said: 'I wrapped my head with my turban and lay down on the scorching ground in intense heat. Then someone came to me in my sleep with a glass cup, the like of which people had never seen more beautiful, and in it a drink, the like of which people had never tasted more delicious. He gave it to me, and I drank it. As soon as I finished my drink, I woke up, and by Allah, I was not thirsty, nor did I know thirst after that drink.' Then I heard them saying, 'A man from the nobles of your people has come to you, and you have not given him even a sip of milk mixed with water. Bring me their mixed drink.' I said, 'I have no need of it. Allah, Blessed and Exalted, has fed me and given me drink.' I showed them my stomach, and they all embraced Islam, to the last one of them.
