✧ I came to the Prophet ﷺ, and he presented Islam to me, so I became Muslim, and he taught me verses of the Qur'an. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I did deeds in the Jahiliyyah. Do I have any reward for them?" He said, "What did you do?" I said, "Two ten-year-old she-camels of mine went astray, so I went out looking for them on a camel of mine. Two tents appeared to me in an open area, so I headed toward them. In one of them I found an old man. I said, 'Have you seen two ten-year-old she-camels?' He said, 'Miqsam b. Darim: we found your two she-camels and sold them, and Allah has revived with them two households of your people, Arabs of Mudar.' While he was talking to me, a woman from the other tent called out, 'She gave birth, she gave birth!' He said, 'What did she give birth to? If it is a boy, he will share in our people; if it is a girl, bury her.' She said, 'A girl.' I said, 'What is this newborn?' He said, 'My daughter.' I said, 'I will buy her from you.' He said, 'O brother of Banu Tamim, would you sell your daughter? I am a man of the Arabs of Mudar.' I said, 'I do not buy her neck from you, but I buy her spirit from you, that you not kill her.' He said, 'With what will you buy her?' I said, 'With these two she-camels and their offspring.' He said, 'Will you add this camel of yours?' I said, 'Yes, on condition that you send a messenger with me, and when I reach my family I will return the camel to him.' When part of the night passed, I thought to myself that this is a noble deed that no Arab has preceded me to. Islam appeared and I had revived three hundred and sixty buried girls, buying each one with two ten-year-old she-camels and a camel. So do I have any reward for that?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "Its reward is complete for you, since Allah has bestowed Islam upon you." 'Abbad said: The confirmation of Sa'sa'a's words is the saying of al-Farazdaq: [al-mutaqarib] And my grandfather who prevented the burial of girls, so he revived the buried one and it was not buried. Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in the Talkhis.
