حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَهُ عَنْ مَسْأَلَةٍ فَقَالَ «لَا عَلِمَ لِي بِهَا» فَلَمَّا أَدْبَرَ الرَّجُلُ قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ نِعْمَ مَا قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ سُئِلَ عَمَّا لَا يَعْلَمُ فَقَالَ لَا عِلْمَ لِي بِهَا

Translation

✧ A man asked him about a matter, and he said: 'I have no knowledge of it.' When the man turned away, Ibn Umar said: 'How well Ibn Umar spoke: he was asked about what he did not know, so he said I have no knowledge of it.'
