أَخْبَرَنِي قَاضِي قُضَاةِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَالِحِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْجُرَيْرِيُّ ثَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الْحَرَّانِيُّ ثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَدِينِيُّ ثَنَا سُحَيْمُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرَةَ «قَدِمَ عَلَيْنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ الْبَصْرَةَ وَمَا فِي الْعَرَبِ مِثْلُهُ جِسْمًا وَعِلْمًا وَثِيَابًا وَجَمَالًا وَكَمَالًا» قَالَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ «وَوَلَدُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَلِيًّا وَهُوَ سَيِّدُ وَلَدِهِ وُلِدَ سَنَةَ أَرْبَعِينَ
وَيُقَالُ وُلِدَ عَامَ الْجَمَلِ سَنَةَ سِتٍّ وَثَلَاثِينَ وَكَانَ أَجْمَلَ قُرَشِيٍّ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ وَأَوْسَمَهُ وَأَكْثَرَهُ صَلَاةً وَكَانَ يُدْعَى السَّجَّادُ وَفِي عَقِبِهِ الْخِلَافَةُ وَعَبَّاسًا وَهُوَ أَكْبَرُ وَلَدِهِ وَبِهِ كَانَ يُكَنَّى وَمُحَمَّدٌ وَعُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ وَالْفَضْلُ وَلُبَابَةُ أُمُّهُمْ زُرْعَةُ بِنْتُ مُسَرِّحِ بْنِ مَعْدِي كَرِبَ بْنِ وَلِيعَةَ وَمُسَرِّحٌ أَحَدُ الْمُلُوكِ الْأَرْبَعَةِ وَلَا بَقِيَّةَ لِلْعَبَّاسِ وَعُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ وَالْفَضْلُ وَمُحَمَّدٌ بَنِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَأَمَّا لُبَابَةُ بِنْتُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ فَإِنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَحْتَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ فَوَلَدَتْ لَهُ وَلِوَلَدِهَا أَعْقَابٌ وَأَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ كَانَتْ عِنْدَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ فَوَلَدَتْ لَهُ حَسَنًا وَحُسَيْنًا وَأُمُّهَا أُمُّ وَلَدٍ»

✧ And it is said: He was born in the Year of the Camel, in the year thirty-six. He was the most handsome of the Quraysh on earth, the most distinguished of them, and the most given to prayer among them. He was called al-Sajjad (the one who prostrates much), and in his offspring lies the caliphate. [His son] Abbas was his eldest child, and by him he was given his kunya. [He also had] Muhammad, Ubayd Allah, al-Fadl, and Lubaba, whose mother was Zur'ah daughter of Musarrih b. Ma'di Karib b. Wali'ah. Musarrih was one of the four kings. There is no surviving progeny for al-Abbas, Ubayd Allah, al-Fadl, and Muhammad, the sons of Abdullah b. Abbas. As for Lubaba daughter of Abdullah, she was married to Ali b. Abdullah b. Ja'far b. Abi Talib, and she bore him children, and her descendants have numerous offspring. Asma' daughter of Abdullah was married to Abdullah b. Abdullah b. al-Abbas, and she bore him Hasan and Husayn. Their mother was an umm walad.
