✧ Yazid b. 'Utbah b. Abi Lahab mentions the clouds that watered the grave of Ibn 'Abbas: "[al-Bahr al-Basit] The sky of Allah poured His mercy three times with water over the grave of Ibn 'Abbas. He used to tell us this, and we knew it with certainty, but some remember and some forget. The sky waters the grave with His mercy. This, by my life, is a matter in the hands of people. If the people had an opinion to protect them in calamities, they would have thrown you Ibn 'Abbas—may Allah have mercy on his understanding—and what a man he was! Is there anyone like him at the decisive moment among the people? But they threw you an old man of blessed lineage, who does not know the division of fifths into sixths."
