✧ We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until we reached Ghadir Khumm. He ordered a tree to be cleared, and it was swept on a day that was intensely hot, the like of which we had never experienced. He praised Allah and extolled Him, then said: "O people, no prophet was ever sent but he lived half as long as the one before him. I am about to be called and to respond. I am leaving among you that with which, if you hold fast to it, you will never go astray after me: the Book of Allah ﷻ." Then he stood up, took 'Ali by the hand, and said: "O people, who is more entitled to you than yourselves?" They said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "Am I not more entitled to you than yourselves?" They said: "Yes." He said: "Whoever I am his mawla, then 'Ali is his mawla."
