أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الْأَسَدِيُّ الْحَافِظُ بِهَمْدَانَ ثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ثَنَا مِنْجَابُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ كَانَ حَكِيمُ بْنُ حِزَامٍ أَعْتَقَ مِائَةَ رَقَبَةٍ وَحَمَلَ عَلَى مِائَةِ بَعِيرٍ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَلَمَّا أَسْلَمَ قَالَ

لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَرَأَيْتَ شَيْئًا كُنْتُ أَصْنَعُهُ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ أَتَحَنَّثُ بِهِ هَلْ لِي فِيهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَسْلَمْتَ عَلَى مَا سَلَفَ لَكَ مِنْ أَجْرٍ» سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص

✧ I said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, 'Do you think that any good I did in the pre-Islamic era, by which I sought closeness to God, will earn me any reward?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'You accepted Islam with the reward of what you had previously done.' Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in the Talkhis.
