أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْغِفَارِيُّ بِمَرْوَ ثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى الْحَافِظُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَحْمَدَ بْنَ زُهَيْرٍ يَقُولُ «كَعْبُ بْنُ عُجْرَةَ بْنِ عَدِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفِ بْنِ غَنْمِ بْنِ سَوَادَةَ
وَيُقَالُ لِآبَائِهِ الْقَوَاقِلُ وَكَانَ أَحْرَمَ مِنَ الشَّامِ حِينَ خَرَجَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ خَرَجَ إِلَى الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ يُرِيدُ الْعُمْرَةَ فَوَافَقَ قُدُومُهُ خُرُوجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَخَرَجَ مَعَهُ وَكَعْبُ بْنُ عُجْرَةَ حَلِيفُ بَنِي عَوْفِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ الْخَزْرَجِ»

✧ And his forefathers were called al-Qawaqil. He had entered the state of ihram from Syria when the Prophet ﷺ set out for Hudaybiyyah, intending 'umrah. His arrival coincided with the Prophet's departure, so he went out with him. Ka'b b. 'Ujrah was an ally of Banu 'Awf b. al-Harith b. al-Khazraj."
