حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ بَالَوَيْهِ ثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْحَرْبِيُّ ثَنَا مُصْعَبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ قَالَ

«وَأَبُو أَيُّوبَ خَالِدُ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ كُلَيْبِ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ عَوْفٍ مِنْ بَنِي تَمِيمِ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ النَّجَّارِ شَهِدَ الْعَقَبَةَ وَبَدْرًا وَالْمَشَاهِدَ كُلَّهَا وَفُتُوحَ الْعِرَاقِ وَشَهِدَ مَعَ عَلِيٍّ صِفِّينَ ثُمَّ صَارَ إِلَى الشَّامِ فَدَخَلَ أَرْضَ الرُّومِ غَازِيًا وَنَزَلَ الْقُسْطَنْطِينِيَّةَ»

Translation

✧ "And Abu Ayyub is Khalid b. Zayd b. Kulayb b. Tha'labah b. Abd Awf, from the Banu Tamim b. Malik b. al-Najjar. He was present at al-Aqabah, Badr, and all the battles, and the conquests of Iraq. He was present with Ali at Siffin, then went to Syria and entered the land of the Byzantines as a raider and camped at Constantinople."
