✧ He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent Amr b. al-As to al-Bahrayn, then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out in a military expedition and we went out with him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ dozed, then woke and said: 'May Allah have mercy on Amr.' He said: We recalled every person whose name was Amr. Then he dozed a second time and woke and said: 'May Allah have mercy on Amr.' Then he dozed a third time and woke and said: 'May Allah have mercy on Amr.' We said: 'Who is Amr, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Amr b. al-As.' They said: 'What is the matter with him?' He said: 'I remembered him. When I called people to give charity, he came with charity and gave generously, and I said to him: "Where did you get this?" He said: "From Allah." Amr spoke truly. Indeed Amr has much good.' Zuhayr said: When the fitna occurred, I said: 'I will follow this one about whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said what he said,' so I did not part from him.
