✧ We traveled with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one night, and he tapped my mount's neck with his hand and said, "Do you have water with you?" I said, "Yes, here is a small waterskin with me." He dismounted, relieved himself, then came to me and said, "Do you need to relieve yourself?" I said, "No." Then he washed his hands three times, rinsed his mouth three times, sniffed water three times, and washed his face three times. Then he wanted to expose his forearms, but he was wearing a narrow woolen jubbah and could not get his forearms out of it, so he brought his hands out from beneath the jubbah and washed his forearms three times each. Then he wiped his head and wiped over his khuffs. Then we traveled on and caught up with the people, and 'Abd al-Rahman b. 'Awf led them in prayer. I wanted to inform him of the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ location, but he prevented me. So we prayed, then made up the second one. "Gharib, sahih al-isnad, but they did not record it in this wording." Al-Dhahabi deleted it from the Talkhis due to its weakness.
